Read this manual carefully before using the product.

Product overview

Power key

The device has only one physical key which is the power key.

When device is off

  • Press the power key  to turn on the device;

When device is on

  • Press the power key to open/close Wi-Fi hotspot;
  • Press and hold the power key to turn off the device;
  • Press the power key 3 times to format the SD card;
  • Press the power key 5 times to restore factory settings.

Indicator

A ring-shaped indicator is at the outer edge of the power key.
The indicator has the following states:

Off state
When the device is turned off, the indicator is off as well.

Keeping on state
When the device is turned on, the indicator is turned on.
While the device is in different running mode, the color of indicator changes as follows:

  • Green:Normally recording;
  • Blue: Not in recording mode;
  • Red: Error in recording.

Breathing state
When the indicator is breathing (regardless of color), the Wi-Fi hotspot is open.
When the indicator is keeping on(regardless of color), the Wi-Fi hotspot is closed.

Flashing state
When the device executes temporary tasks, the indicator is flashing during the whole task process.
There are the following temporary tasks:

Installation

1. Electrostatic sticker

Take out the electrostatic sticker from the packing box and install it in the recommended area on the windshield, as shown in the figure below. Please clean the windshield, and remove the air bubbles between the electrostatic sticker and the windshield during installation.

2. Attach the camera mount to the windshield

Remove the protective sticker on the device bracket and attach the device to the center of the electrostatic sticker, as shown in the figure below. Make sure the device body is parallel to the ground.
Press the bracket mount by hand to ensure that the heat resistant adhesive is in close contact with the electrostatic sticker.

3. Connect USB cable to the cigarette lighter port

As shown in the figure, run the power cable along the top of the windshield, down pillar A, and around the passenger-side glove compartment. Arrange the end so that it runs to the cigarette lighter outlet. After connecting it to the car charger, plug the charger into the outlet.


The cigarette lighter outlet might be positioned differently in your car. The picture provided is for reference only.

Voice control

70mai dash cam supports voice control. When the dash cam is running, you can control it by following voice commands:

  • Take picture: Take a photo.
  • Record video: Record an emergency video clip and save separately to event folder.
  • Record without sound: Stop recording sound, the video recorded is soundless.
  • Record with sound: Start to record sound, including the sound inside the vehicle.
  • Turn off Wi-Fi: Turn off the Wi-Fi hotspot of the dash cam.
  • Turn on Wi-Fi: Turn on the Wi-Fi hotspot of the dash cam.

In following situations, the voice control does not work:

  • When 70mai dash cam app is accessing the device;
  • When the indicator is flashing.

Activate the dash cam when first time use

Power on the Dash Cam
When turning on the dash cam for the first time, you will hear a voice prompt “Xiaomai has turned on, please connect to your mobile phone to activate”. And indicator is breathing blue.
(If the indicator keeps on blue, please press the power key to open the Wi-Fi hotspot of the dash cam.)

Connect App to the Dash Cam

  1. Open the 70mai dash cam app, sign in with your mobile phone number.
  2. At the app homepage, click “Add new dash cam” and follow the instructions on the screen to connect to the dash cam. The default password of the dash cam Wi-Fi is 12345678.
  3. When you hear a voice prompt “Please press the power key to authorize” from the Dash Cam, press the power key to complete the authorization.
  4. After connected to the dash cam,  the app will display usage wizard about the basic skills of using the dash cam and adjusting the angle of the lens.

App functions

Homepage

1.Device list
If you didn’t add any devices, the device list is blank. Tap the list or tap “Add” button on the upper right corner of the page to add a new dash cam.
If you have added your dash cam, click the device picture to enter the dash cam plug-in page.
If there are more than one dash cams in your device list, swipe right or left across the page to choose different dash  cams

2.Check firmware update
If a new firmware of the dash cam is available, a red dot displays on the upper right corner of the “Firmware update” button;
Tap “Firmware update” to enter the firmware update page then tap “Download” to download the update package to your mobile phone. When the it is downloaded, please enter the dash cam plug-in page to push it to your device.
If your device has updated to the latest firmware version, you can delete the update package in your phone. Tap “Delete” icon on the upper right corner of the page to delete.

Dash Cam plug-in

Before entering the plug-in page, please connect your  mobile phone to the Wi-Fi hotspot of the dash cam. When you exit the plug-in page,your phone will automatically disconnect with the dash cam.

1.Preview
Preview what the Dash Cam has recorded. Tap the icon on the lower right corner of the screen to switch to full-screen display.

2.Take photos
Tap the”Take photo”, the Dash Cam will snap as a feedback. After phototaking is completed, there will be a voice prompt “Phototaking completed”, and the photo will be stored both in the album and  SD card of the the phone.

3.View the album of the dash cam
On the dash cam plug-in homepage, click “Album” icon to enter the album of the device. You can view the videos and photos saved in the SD card.
The album contains the following contents:

  • Normal video
  • Emergency video
  • Photo

After entering the specific album list, you can view the content or download it to your mobile phone’s local album.

4.Modify device settings
You can modify the device settings on the 70mai dash cam app. At the dash cam plug-in page, lick “Device settings” icon to enter the settings page.
You can change following device settings:

5.Push the update package
If you have downloaded the latest firmware package, the “Push update” icon on the bottom of the plug-in homepage is available; if there is no usable update package, the “Push update” icon is unavailable.
Tap “Push update” to push the update package to the dash cam.
When the dash cam is receiving the update package, the indicator flashes blue and the recording is stopped.

Personal Center

At homepage of the app, click “User” icon on the left top to enter personal center.

1.Modify personal profile
In personal center, you can modify your avatar, nickname, name, and gender.

2.Manage your devices
In personal center, you can manage the added devices.
Select the device in the device list and enter into the device page. You can delete the device.

3.View app information
You can view the version, user agreement and privacy policy in personal center.

Emergency videos
Video length: 30 seconds extension to current video
Recording mode: Loop recording

Photos
Storage capacity: up to 300 photos
If the photo storage is used up, you need manually delete old photos to release the space.

SD card requirement

Your dash cam supports standard SD card with the capacity of 16GB~64GB and a read/write speed of Class 10 or above. Make sure you format your SD card inside the dash cam before using.

The amount of content that a SD card can store is as follows (for reference):

    • Video storage description: The stored normal videos and emergency videos are all loop recorded. To ensure that important videos are not erased, please export important videos to other devices such as mobile phones or computers.
    • The SD card may be damaged or aged after repeated erasing and writing, and videos cannot be saved normally. In this case, please replace a new SD card in time.
    • Please use a reliable, high-quality SD card produced by a reputable manufacturers. Inferior SD cards may have issues including writing speeds that do not match the card’s stated ratings and capacities that are lower than their stated amounts. We are not responsible for any loss or damage to video or images caused by the use of an inferior SD card.
    • In order to avoid slow reading and writing after a SD card is used for a long time, it is recommended to format it in the Dash Cam every two weeks or so. Formatting deletes all files in the SD card, so please save important videos in advance.
    • Do not insert or remove the SD card while the Dash Cam is on.
      • The capacity is less than 8G;
      • The read/write speed is less than Class 4;
      • The SD card is aged;
      • The write speed is slower;
      • The SD card is abnormal and unidentifiable;
      • The SD card contains files incompatible with the Dash Cam;
      • The format is incorrect. The SD card needs to be formatted when it is used for the first time in the Dash Cam.

Power Usage

The Dash Cam uses the car cigarette lighter as the power supply. To ensure stable power supply, please use the original car charger and power able. We assume no responsibility for any loss caused by the use of other power sources other than car cigarette lighters, non-original chargers or power cords.

Some cars still supply power to cigarette lighters after they are stopped. In order to avoid battery loss caused by the Dash Cam’s working for a long time, please manually turn off the Dash Cam or unplug the Dash Cam charger after the car is stopped. If the Dash Cam is manually turned off, when the car is started the next time, the Dash Cam needs to be manually turned on. We assume no responsibility for any loss caused by failing to manually turn off the Dash Cam.

Battery Usage

  • The built-in battery of your dash cam is only used for saving the last video file when the external power source is cut off. Do not use the dash cam without the external power source.
  • Avoid to use the Dash Cam in an extremly high temperature as this may damage the battery of the device. If your car still supply power to the cigarette lighter after it is stopped, when it is parked in an area that exposes it to direct sun rays in summer, please plug out the power cable of the Dash Cam to turn the device off.
  • Do not disassembly the built-in battery by yourself.
  • In case of any high temperature, deformation, expansion or liquid leakage of the battery, please stop using it immediately and contact the after-sales service center.

Troubleshooting

WorkingDash cam doesn’t start recording after it’s turned onYou need to activate the dash cam with 70mai dash cam app when you use the device for the first time. The device does not record videos if not being activated.
If the device does not start recording while already being activated, please check if your SD card meets the requirement of the device, and make sure you have formatted the SD card by the device before using.
Dash cam stops recording abnormallyPlease format or replace your SD card.
Videos aren’t clearMake sure your windshield is clean and the dash cam’s lens isn’t covered by an object.
Sound isn’t recordedSound recording is closed by default. If you want to record sound, please open sound recording in device settings.
Video files were corruptedReplace with a reliable, high-quality SD card produced by reputable manufacturers.
System time not correctPlease adjust system time on your 70mai dash cam app after connect your mobile phone to the device.
Device doesn’t respondPress the Reset button with a pin, or press and hold the Power button to turn the dash cam off, and then turn it on again.
Connect to the deviceAuthorization failedTo protect your data, you are asked to press the power key to accept the connection request from the mobile phone when you add a new dash cam on the app. Make sure you did the operation.
If you had already added the dash cam in the app, but was notified “Authorization failed” when entering the plug-in homepage, please remove the dash cam in “My device” list, then add it back.
Can not play video in appYou might meet compatible probelms. Please submit the brand, type and system version of your mobile phone in “Feedback”, we will provide update solution to you.
Connecting to computerDash cam can’t be foundUSB cable provided with the the dash cam can only be used for charging. Use another cable to transfer data to your computer.

Safety precautions

  1. This product is a vehicle accessory that records external video footage. The usage of this product does not guarantee the safe driving of users. We are not responsible for driving accidents and other losses that result from product failure, loss of data, or the operation of this product.
  2. Certain functions of this product may not work properly due to differences in vehicle conditions, driving style, and driving environment. Power disconnection, usage outside of normal temperature and humidity, impact, and memory card damage may cause this product to malfunction. We do not guarantee normal operation under all circumstances. The videos recorded are for reference only.
  3. Please install this product properly and do not block the driver’s line of sight or the vehicle airbag to avoid product failure and personal injury.
  4. Keep this product away from strong magnetic fields, which may cause damage to the product.
  5. Do not remove or insert the SD card while the device is on. Doing so may damage the SD card.
  6. Make sure you use a SD card with a capacity of 16GB~64GB and a read/write speed of Class 10 and above. Before using a new SD card, please format it in the Dash Cam.
  7. The SD card may be damaged or aged after repeated erasing and writing, and videos cannot be saved normally. In this case, please replace a new SD card in time.
  8. The device can record and save videos when car accidents happens, but we do not guarantee that it can record the whole accident. Subtle collisions may not trigger the G-sensor and the recorded videos may not be saved in the specialized director.
  9. Do not use this product at temperatures above 60℃ or below -10℃.
  10. If the device is not used for a long time, the battery may be depleted. Please reset the system time next time turning on the device.
  11. Please keep the device away from strong shock or vibration to avoid damage or malfunction.
  12. Please avoid using chemical solvents or detergents to clean the device.
  13. Please use this product to the extent permitted by law.
